"Monkey hanger" is a colloquial nickname by which people from the town of Hartlepool in County Durham, England are sometimes known.[1]
Hartlepool is actually a unitary authority and not part of County Durham. It was Previously part of County Durham and then became part of Cleveland in 1976. Cleveland became defunct in 1994! Hartlepool is currently not in any county!
