Nerekhtsky District (Russian: Не́рехтский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[5] district (raion), one of the twenty-four in Kostroma Oblast, Russia. It is located in the west of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,163 square kilometers (449 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the town of Nerekhta (which is not administratively a part of the district).[1] Population: 29,270 (2021 Census);[7] 11,416 (2010 Census);[3] 13,447 (2002 Census);[8] 15,393 (1989 Soviet census).[9]
