Nogliksky District (Russian: Ногликский райо́н) is an administrative district (raion) of Sakhalin Oblast, Russia; one of the seventeen in the oblast.[1] Municipally, it is incorporated as Nogliksky Urban Okrug.[4] It is located in the northeast of the Island of Sakhalin. The area of the district is 11,294.8 square kilometers (4,360.9 sq mi).[citation needed] Its administrative center is the urban locality (an urban-type settlement) of Nogliki.[1] Population: 12,124 (2010 Census);[2] 13,576 (2002 Census);[6] 16,786 (1989 Soviet census).[7] The population of Nogliki accounts for 84.4% of the district's total population.[2]
