Singtel Optus Pty Limited is an Australian telecommunications company headquartered in Macquarie Park, a suburb in the Northern Sydney region of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Singaporean telecommunications company Singtel.
Optus is the second-largest telecommunications company in Australia, with over 11 million customers as of 2023.[2] Its mobile network covers 98.5% of the Australian population, with plans to cover 100% of Australia by 2025 through its partnership with SpaceX.[6]
Optus is owned by Singaporean parent company Singtel, whose executive board has been visiting Australia this week. Shares in Singtel fell by nearly 5 per cent on the Singapore Exchange on Wednesday.
Optus is fully owned by Singtel, which itself is majority owned by Temasek Holdings, the investment arm of the Singapore government, which owns 55 per cent of the company's issued share capital.
Optus, the second-largest telecommunications company in Australia, is 100% owned by Singtel. This acquisition has contributed substantially to Singtel's international presence.
