Oudaya

The Oudaya (Arabic: الودايا, romanized: al-Wadāya or الاوداية, romanized: al-Ūdāya) also written as Udaya, Oudaia or Wadaya is an Arab tribe in Morocco of Maqil origin.[1] They are situated around Fez and Meknes, Marrakesh and in Rabat.[2] They became one of the tribes to be recruited by Ismail Ibn Sharif to become one of the guich tribes that became an integral part of the pre-colonial Moroccan military.[2][3] The Mghafra (a sub-tribe of the Oudaya) founded several emirates in Mauritania (e.g. Emirate of Trarza) as a result of the Char Bouba War.[4]
