Petruchio (/pɪˈtruːkioʊ, -tʃioʊ/ pih-TROO-kee-oh, -chee-oh; an anglicisation of the Italian name Petruccio, pronounced [peˈtruttʃo]) is the male protagonist in Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew (c. 1590–1594).
