Philip 'Phil' Charig (August 31, 1902 – July 21, 1960) was an American composer, lyricist, songwriter, and pianist. He began his career in the early 1920s as a pianist and composer with the band leader Ben Bernie. He created stage works for both the New York and London stages; of which the best known is Follow the Girls (1944).[1] He also composed music for American television and film. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 11th Academy Awards for the song "Merrily We Live" from the 1938 film of the same name.
