Pokrovsky District (Russian: Покро́вский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[4] district (raion), one of the twenty-four in Oryol Oblast, Russia. It is located in the southeastern central part of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,411 square kilometers (545 sq mi).[citation needed] Its administrative center is the urban locality (an urban-type settlement) of Pokrovskoye.[1] Population: 14,782 (2010 Census);[2] 18,027 (2002 Census);[6] 20,056 (1989 Soviet census).[7] The population of Pokrovskoye accounts for 30.0% of the district's total population.[2]
