• Russo-Ukrainian War
  • 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine
    • Russia accuses Ukraine of a drone attack on its Black Sea Fleet headquarters in Sevastopol, Crimea. The Russian-installed Governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhayev says the Russian Navy repelled the attack, which he calls the "most massive" since the invasion began. Russia consequently suspends its participation in the Black Sea Grain Initiative. (NPR) (BBC News)
  • 2022 Nord Stream pipeline sabotage
    • Russia accuses the United Kingdom's Royal Navy of blowing up the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea on September 26. The Russian Defence Ministry says the Navy was also behind recent attacks on Russian Navy facilities in Crimea. The British government denies both accusations. (Reuters)
• Israeli–Palestinian conflict
  • A Palestinian gunman kills an Israeli settler in Kiryat Arba, Hebron, and injures four others, including a Palestinian paramedic, before being killed by security forces. (Times of Israel)

  • October 2022 Mogadishu bombings
    • At least 100 people are killed and over 300 others are injured by an al-Shabaab double car bombing in Mogadishu. (Al Jazeera)

• 2022 Pacific typhoon season
  • Tropical Storm Nalgae
    • The death toll from floods and landslides caused by Tropical Storm Nalgae (Paeng) in the Philippines increases to 45 with at least 14 people reported missing. (The New York Times)
• Seoul Halloween crowd crush
  • At least 151 people are killed and 82 others injured in a crowd crush during Halloween celebrations in Itaewon, Seoul, South Korea. (The Hankyoreh)
• A gas tanker explosion at an amateur football game in Baghdad, Iraq, kills nine people and wounds 10 others. (AP)

• Essex lorry deaths
  • A suspect arrested in 2019 for the deaths of 39 Vietnamese illegal immigrants in a lorry in southern England has been formally charged with 39 counts of manslaughter and conspiracy to assist illegal immigration. (The Guardian)
• Mahsa Amini protests
  • The first trial related to the protests following the death of Mahsa Amini begins in the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Tehran. The five protesters face charges of corruption on earth, which is punishable by death. (Al Arabiya)
• 2022 Brazilian general election
  • Congresswoman and Bolsonaro supporter Carla Zambelli draws a handgun and chases a Lula supporter in São Paulo. Zambelli claimed to have been assaulted by the man, but video footage shows that Zambelli tripped and fell to the ground before chasing him. (The Brazilian Report)
