Preble is a town in Cortland County, New York, United States. The population was 1,357 at the 2020 census,[3] down from 1,393 at the 2010 census.[4] The town is named after Commodore Edward Preble, a naval hero.
Preble is on the northern border of Cortland County and is north of the city of Cortland.
