The Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence are awarded by the Prime Minister of Canada to exceptional Canadian elementary and secondary school teachers. It is the most prestigious prize awarded to a teacher in Canada.[1][2]

Over 1,500 educators have received this award since its inception in 1993.[1] Awards are conferred in two degrees, an award of Excellence (which is personally delivered by the Prime Minister), and an award of merit, which is delivered by local politicians in their communities.[1]
