Proletarsky District (Russian: Пролета́рский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[4] district (raion), one of the forty-three in Rostov Oblast, Russia. It is located in the south of the oblast. The area of the district is 2,740 square kilometers (1,060 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the town of Proletarsk.[1] Population: 36,510 (2010 Census);[3] 36,297 (2002 Census);[6] 36,346 (1989 Soviet census).[7] The population of Proletarsk accounts for 55.5% of the district's total population.[3]
