Puli (transl. Tiger demon) is a 2015 Indian Tamil-language fantasy action adventure film[8] written and directed by Chimbu Deven. The film stars Vijay in dual role, an ensemble cast of Sridevi, Kichcha Sudeep, Shruti Haasan, Hansika Motwani, Prabhu, Nandita Swetha, Thambi Ramaiah, Sathyan and Vijayakumar. The film was the return of Sridevi to the Kollywood industry after several years and was her last Tamil film.

The story revolves around the clash between humans and demons (Vedhalams) in a Kingdom ruled by demons, where the protagonist fights for justice, of the ruthless slaughtering of humans by demons, but his ancestry turns out to be a mystery.

The film's original Tamil version was released worldwide on 1 October 2015. The film was dubbed into both Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam, which were released a day later on 2 October 2015.[9] The film received mixed to negative reviews from critics and was a below average at the box office. The film received criticism on the screenplay and writing. However, the film received praise for the cast performances and visual effects.[10][11]

Despite being a box office below average venture, Puli recovered its ₹100 crore investment through profit in satellite and digital rights.[12] The film was screened at the Tokyo International Film Festival, Japan.[13]
