Rancho Llano Seco was a 17,767-acre (71.90 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Butte County, California, given in 1845 by Mexican Governor Pio Pico to Sebastian Keyser (Kayser).[1] Llano seco means 'dry plains' in Spanish. The grant extended along the east bank of the Sacramento River south of present-day Chico.[2] It remains an active ranch.
