Revere is a city in Suffolk County, Massachusetts, located approximately 5 miles (8.0 km) from downtown Boston. Founded as North Chelsea in 1846, it was renamed in 1871 after Revolutionary War patriot Paul Revere.[2] In 1914,[3] the Town of Revere voted to become a city and was incorporated as a city with the inauguration of its first mayor on January 4, 1915.[4] At the 2020 census, the city had a population of 62,186 inhabitants.[5]
