Rhogostomidae is a family of thecateamoebae with a ventral cleft-like aperture.[1] Their theca is thin and flexible and adheres to the cell.[2] The cleft-like aperture allows them to extend and retract their filose pseudopodia, which they use to move and feed.[1] They are primarily feeding on bacteria, but they are also known to consume yeasts and algae.[3] The family contains three genera: Capsellina,[4]Sacciforma,[3] and Rhogostoma.[5]
