It belongs to the fourth generation of the Samsung Galaxy Tab series, which also includes a 7-inch and an 8-inch model, which are the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 and Galaxy Tab 4 8.0. It was announced on 1 April 2014, and released on 1 May 2014 along with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0.
