The Sanremo Music Festival 1975 (Italian: Festival di Sanremo 1975), officially the 25th Italian Song Festival (25º Festival della canzone italiana), was the 25th annual Sanremo Music Festival, held at the Sanremo Casino in Sanremo between 27 February and 1 March 1975 and was presented by Mike Bongiorno, assisted by Sabina Ciuffini.[1]
Because of some disagreements with the municipality of Sanremo (organizer of the event), the major record companies decided to boycott the event and not enter their artists in the competition. As a result, the vast majority of the participants were emerging artists.[1] The winner of the festival was Gilda with "Ragazza del sud", a song which was criticized because of its use of stereotypes about people of Southern Italy.[1]
