Schoharie (/skˈhɛər/ skoh-HAIR-ee) is an incorporated town in and the county seat of Schoharie County, New York, United States. The population was 3,107 at the 2020 census.[3]

The Town of Schoharie has a village, also called Schoharie. Both are derived from the Mohawk word for driftwood. The town is on the northeast border of the county and is southwest of Albany, and east of Oneonta and Cooperstown, both located in Otsego County. It is 170 miles [273 km] north from NYC.
