Schuyler Washington Colfax III (/ˈsklər ˈklfæks/; April 11, 1870 – March 29, 1925) was an American Republican politician who served as the 11th mayor of South Bend, Indiana from 1898 to 1902.[1] He assumed office at the age of 28, and remains the youngest person to become mayor in the city's history.[2][3][4]

Colfax was the son of Schuyler Colfax, the 17th Vice President of the United States and 25th Speaker of the House of Representatives.
