Shatkovsky District (Russian: Шатко́вский райо́н) is an administrative district (raion), one of the forty in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Russia.[1] Municipally, it is incorporated as Shatkovsky Municipal District.[4] It is located in the south of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,440.7 square kilometers (556.3 sq mi).[1] Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Shatki.[1] Population: 27,018 (2010 Census);[2] 28,841 (2002 Census);[6] 30,364 (1989 Soviet census).[7] The population of Shatki accounts for 35.7% of the district's total population.[2]
