Shinjuku Incident (Chinese: 新宿事件; pinyin: Xīnsù Shìjiàn; Jyutping: San1 Suk1 Si6 Gin2, Japanese: 新宿インシデント Shinjuku Inshidento) is a 2009 Hong Kong crime drama film directed by Derek Yee, and written by Yee and Chun Tin-nam. It stars Jackie Chan, Naoto Takenaka, Daniel Wu, Xu Jinglei, and Fan Bingbing. The film tells the story of Steelhead (Chan), a labour worker from China who travels to Japan as an illegal immigrant to look for his long-lost fiancée Xiu Xiu (Jinglei), only to be embroiled in the brutal Japanese underworld.
The film was distributed by Chan's own film company, JCE Movies Limited. It was originally to be released on 25 September 2008 but was delayed to the first quarter of 2009. It premiered at the 2009 Hong Kong International Film Festival and was released on 2 April 2009. The film received generally positive reviews from critics.
