Shipunovsky District (Russian: Шипуно́вский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[3] district (raion), one of the fifty-nine in Altai Krai, Russia. It is located in the center of the krai. The area of the district is 4,130 square kilometers (1,590 sq mi).[citation needed] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Shipunovo.[1] Population: 33,285 (2010 Census);[2] 36,299 (2002 Census);[5] 36,810 (1989 Soviet census).[6] The population of the administrative center accounts for 36.4% of the district's total population.[2]
