Shirley Owens-Hicks is an American Democratic politician from Boston, Massachusetts.[2] She represented the 6th Suffolk district in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1987 to 2006, first winning her seat by primarying incumbent Royal Bolling Jr.[2][3] Prior to that she served as a member of the Boston School Committee from 1984 to 1988.[4] Her brother, Bill Owens, served in the Massachusetts Senate.[5]
