Shirley Lewis Povich (July 15, 1905 – June 4, 1998) was an American sportswriter and columnist who spent his entire career with The Washington Post. Known for his sports columns, Povich began his career with The Post as a World War II war correspondent and continued to work there until his death in 1998.
