Shyamnagar is a historic township, administratively considered to be a part of the Bhatpara Municipality, in the district of North 24 Parganas in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is officially a part of the area covered by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA). The locality is considered to be one of the major development hubs in the North 24 Parganas district. In order to overcome ambiguity concerning other places of the same name in India, Shyamnagar is sometimes also referred to as Barrackpore-Shyamnagar as it comes under Barrackpore Lok Sabha constituency.
