The sihu (Chinese: 四胡; pinyin: sìhú) (known as a ᠬᠤᠭᠤᠴᠢᠷ / хуучир / khuuchir in Mongolia, where this term defines the whole huqin family) is a Chinese bowed string instrument with four strings.[1] It is a member of the huqin family of instruments.[2]

Due to their documented origin among northern ethnic minorities, bowed string instruments in China as a group were subsequently called huqin ("instrument of the Hu people" or "barbarian qin").
