Soskovsky District (Russian: Сосковский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[3] district (raion), one of the twenty-four in Oryol Oblast, Russia. It is located in the west of the oblast. The area of the district is 611.6 square kilometers (236.1 sq mi).[citation needed] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Soskovo.[1] Population: 5,982 (2010 Census);[2] 8,214 (2002 Census);[5] 9,122 (1989 Soviet census).[6] The population of Soskovo accounts for 30.0% of the district's total population.[2]
