The Srinagar Municipal Corporation is the governing body responsible for the administration of the Indian city of Srinagar. The municipal corporation system in India was established during the British colonial period with the founding of the municipal corporation in Chennai in 1688, which was later followed by the establishment of municipal corporations in Mumbai and Kolkata by 1762.[1] The Srinagar Municipal Corporation is led by the Mayor of the city and overseen by a Commissioner.
