Sud-Ouest ([syd.wɛst], "Southwest") is one of Burkina Faso's 13 administrative regions. It was created on July 2, 2001 and had a population of 874,030 in 2019. It covers an area of 16,153 km2. The region's capital is Gaoua. Four provinces make up the region—Bougouriba, Ioba, Noumbiel, and Poni.
As of 2019, the population of the region was 874,030 with 51.7% females. The population in the region was 4.26% of the total population of the country. The child mortality rate was 98, infant mortality rate was 107 and the mortality of children under five was 195. As of 2007, the literacy rate in the region was 18.1%, compared to a national average of 28.3%. The coverage of cereal need compared to the total production of the region was 156%.
