Sylvana Ward Durrett was director of special projects at Vogue, responsible for organising the Met Gala for eight years,[1][2] and is co-founder and CEO of Maisonette.[3]
Durrett was born in Los Angeles, the daughter of actress Rosanna DeSoto and screenwriter David S. Ward.[citation needed] She graduated from Princeton University in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in English literature and began her career at Vogue as an assistant to editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.[4]
Durrett is considered one of the driving forces behind the annual Costume Institute Met Gala.[5][6] She produced and appeared in the film The First Monday in May about the work that goes into the Gala.[7] She has also worked on The Fashion Fund which focuses on the business aspect of fashion.[8]
In 2017, Durrett founded a children's clothing business, Maisonette.[5][6]
