Taipei People (simplified Chinese: 台北人; traditional Chinese: 臺北人 or 台北人; pinyin: Táiběi rén) is a collection of 14 short stories written by Pai Hsien-yung in the 1960s, published in 1971. The length and art of each story is different, but all these short stories are about people who came from Mainland China to Taiwan in the 1950s, and about their life in Taipei. It compiles 14 short stories that were originally published in the 1960s in Modern Literature (現代文學). The book was first published by Morning Bell Press in Taiwan in 1971,[1] with reprints in 1997[2] and 2002.[3] Some of the stories were also published in Wandering in the Garden, Waking from a Dream (1968). Taipei People has been translated into multiple languages and published worldwide.
