A solid article on the Football League Cup final 20 years ago. Some things left to sort out:
Lead: two times you write about "matches" that we "close affairs", which reads pretty repetitive.
Route to the final: For the Bolton part: You should place the citation at the end of every paragraph. Also, maybe you have sources here for the specific games?
Route to the final: On my widescreen monitor, the two result tables intersect, leaving a lot of whitespace. You should probably move them both at the end of the section, next to each other. Even better would be if you could convert it into a table such as shown here, that would also give the opportunity to make the prose shorter. But that's optional.
First half: You should choose a more neutral term that "dominance".
Details: Any chance to get a source for the match rules?
Post match: There needs to be a source for the fact that Liverpool qualified for European competition by winning the Cup.
Optional: You might want to include how Liverpool performed in the European competition the following season.
