Talk:Constructive developmental framework

Improvement needed: It is very much not clear what is meant by epistemological assessment. JaapB (talk) 15:57, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Epistemological assessment is an assessment of a person's level of mental growth (in contrast to mental health), both in the cognitive and social-emotional sense, where 'cognitive' refers to the use of thought forms articulated through language, and 'social-emotional' refers to individuals' internal positioning toward self and others in the sense of Kegan's "meaning making". In CDF presented in this article, meaning making is referred to as "social-emotional", while the use of thought forms is referred to as "cognitive". The fact that these two strands of the development of human consciousness are not as clearly separated in the developmental literature, as they are in CDF, is a reason for why their intrinsic relationship has never been made a topic of research, as it is in CDF. 2601:18C:8301:2D00:A0D0:F06F:3365:C61F (talk) 21:19, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
