Article is new, it hasn't been featured already in ITN or DYK, and the readable text is plenty long enough. Both hooks are cited in the article (ALT1 is an offline source but AGF), and article is well referenced throughout, is free of tags, neutral and free of COPYVIO. Both hooks are formatted correctly, neutral and interesting. I favour the first hook - I think the reader is more likely to have heard of Leif Erikson's voyage than Anderson's posthumous novel, and it's a subject they'd be more eager to read about. Co-creator (rather than nominator) has done QPQ - can't see that discussed in the guidelines, but assume it's OK. Good to go. GirthSummit (blether)18:11, 6 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
A fact from J. R. L. Anderson appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 14 August 2019 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Did you know... that in 1966, British journalist John Anderson led an expedition across the Atlantic to replicate Leif Erikson's voyage?
