I just read the entry about John Carter of Mars. I remember first encountering John Carter in the Tarzan comic books about 1956. The usual Tarzan comic book, as I remember, had two Tarzan stories and then a third story. The third story ran as a series. John Carter was one of those series. I do not see that mentioned in the John Carter of Mars article. The article does mention Dell comics but not in the context I remember. Does anyone else remember what I do. There also was another series at the end of the Tarzan comics which ran longer than the John Carter series. That other series was about a white boy raised by an African tribe. The boy grows up with a mysterious amulet. After becoming a young man, he and his friend set off to solve the mystery. In doing so he has to enter a hidden valley through a high mountain tunnel in a snow swept pass. In it he learns that he is in the lineage of kings who ruled the kingdom. He reclaims the kingdom.
