"If a ball is potted when a penalty has been conceded, the offending player's ball which has been potted is to be placed once again back into the original spot it was at before as it was an illegal pot. This is the same rule for snooker." Really? I haven't encountered this kind of placing in pool billiards before, but indeed, my experience is very limited. In my experience, all replacement of the object balls is to the foot spot. Major penalty (after loss of the game) is a free ball in hand, which is a big deal. Snooker doesn't have this.
