This article is SEVERELY lacking in scientific data and is steeped in old voice mythology. The research of Estill, Titze, Sadolin, Sundberg, and other contemporary vocologists has established the physiological foundations of squillo. It's produced by narrowing the aryepiglottic sphincter, activating the middle constrictor, ensuring a low larynx, and shaping the tongue correctly for operatic sound.
Hopefully, someone with better access to the relevant materials can update the article. But if that never happens, I'll come update the article myself once I can get the papers to cite.
