Tarussky District (Russian: Тарусский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[4] district (raion), one of the twenty-four in Kaluga Oblast, Russia. It is located in the east of the oblast. The area of the district is 714.6 square kilometers (275.9 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the town of Tarusa.[2] Population: 16,603 (2021 Census);[6] 15,255 (2010 Census);[3] 15,680 (2002 Census);[7] 14,848 (1989 Soviet census).[8] The population of Tarusa accounts for 59.7% of the district's total population.[3]
