Tavastian dialects (Finnish: Hämäläismurteet) are Western Finnish dialects spoken in Pirkanmaa, Päijät-Häme, Kanta-Häme, and in parts of Satakunta, Uusimaa and Kymenlaakso.[2] The dialect spoken in the city of Tampere is part of the Tavastian dialects.[3] The Tavastian dialects have influenced other Finnish dialects (especially the Southwest Finnish dialects).
