Television in Mexico

A statue of El Chavo, the lead character of the eponymous 1973 sitcom starring comedian Chespirito. Reruns of El Chavo have remained popular in syndication across Mexico and the Americas.[1]

Television is a popular form of entertainment in Mexico, with mass entertainment playing an important role in creating a national unified culture.[2] Telenovelas are very traditional in Mexico, are translated to many languages, and watched all over the world with famous names like Lucero, Thalía, Verónica Castro, Itati, Leticia Calderón and Victoria Ruffo.
