For use in editnotices on pages on current events, or whose subjects are currently in the news (such as for having recently died). Similar to {{current}} but in editnotice form. Should not be indiscriminately applied to all current events, only ones attracting a decent amount of edits that this would be useful, particularly those attracting attention from new users or from IP editors who may be unfamiliar with basic editing guidelines.
Please specify a |expiry=
parameter, ideally within a few days. As a general guideline, two weeks (14 days) should be enough time for any given current event to pass, unless there is a credible reason to keep the template up longer (for example, to account for autopsies of the dead or the aftermath of a major storm). In rare or extraordinary circumstances, the parameter may be left blank if consensus for this approach is judged to be needed to adequately address a given current event (such as a pandemic).
Pages using this editnotice appear in Category:Pages with current event editnotice, sorted by expiry. Transclusions without an expiry have a sortkey of ~
, though note that these should not exist and an expiry date should either be added or the editnotice removed.
If the article has been edited in the past 20 minutes, an additional bullet point appears:
- Information must be cited to reliable sources or it will be removed.
- Information must be presented from a neutral point of view.
- Please consider only editing the section you wish to change, rather than the whole page.
