This template uses Lua: |
Utility for formatting lists of species from taxonomic sources with or without authority. This template is intended to be substituted so should have zero transclusions.
Code to use:

Wikitext output that should be saved:
*Malleastrum antsingyense J.-F.Leroy
*Malleastrum boivinianum (Baill.) J.-F.Leroy
*Malleastrum contractum J.-F.Leroy
*Malleastrum depauperatum
Output as it appears on the page
Options
Use |mode=genus
or |mode=taxon
to generate lists of genera or other taxa. These modes assume the line has the taxon name and the authority. The only difference is that the genera are italicised.
By default the Wikitext code for the small template will be substituted on the page. Use |expanded=
if the template should be expanded (which will create the span
markup).
Use |compare=TEXT
to only process lines beginning with certain text. If set to the genus name this only includes lines beginning with a listed species and ignores extra lines on distribution and synonyms in lists such as those generated by World Plants or World Ferns.
The |option=
customises for taxonomic sources where the records need special handling, e.g. to remove unwanted information. Currently the following are handled:
Default
: POWO, WFO|option=WoRMS
– removes Species from beginning of each line and rejects records when species name is "accepted as" another name.|option=GBIF
– removes "Species" on alternate lines.Examples from Template:Format_species_list/testcases.
