| start | The year the term started (required). Use the election year and link. |
| end | The year the term ended (required). If ongoing, use "present". |
| term | The term number (required). Use cardinal numbers (1st, 2nd). |
| legislative | The type of legislative body (not usually required). Defaults to "New Zealand Parliament". |
| electorate_col | The number of columns the electorate cell should span (not usually required). Defaults to "2" if |list= isn't used.

| electorate | The name of the electorate (required). Link to the article. For list MPs, use "List" and do not link. |
| list | The rank on the party's list (optional). |
| party | The name of the party (required). If independent, use "Independent politician". |
