Arc de Triomphe

after the victory in the
Battle of Austerlitz
, it stands in the middle of the
Place Charles de Gaulle
, at the western end of the
Champs-Élysées
. At 51 metres (167 ft) high and 45 m (148 ft) wide, it is the second-largest
triumphal arch
in the world. The monument honors soldiers throughout
French history
, and houses the
tomb of the unknown soldier
.
