A panoramic view of
Eastbourne, a large seaside town in
East Sussex, England, as seen from the west on
Beachy Head. Eastbourne's earliest claim as a
seaside resort was a summer holiday visit by four of
King George III's children in 1780. Although Eastbourne has industrial trading estates, it derives its main income from tourism, the focus of which is the four miles (6 km) of
shingle beach, lined with hotels and guest houses.
