A banknote in the denomination of ten
Prince Edward Island dollars. Introduced in 1872 by the Bank of Prince Edward Island, this dollar circulated in the then-British colony of Prince Edward Island. It replaced the
pound at a rate of 1 pound to 4.866 dollars. Although
Prince Edward Island joined the
Canadian Confederation in 1873, its dollar was reissued once before being absorbed into the
Canadian dollar.
