Balkan cuisine is a type of regional cuisine found across the
Balkan region in southeastern Europe. It combines characteristics of
European cuisine with some of those from western Asia. This photograph depicts a
Serbian breakfast traditionally served on Orthodox
Easter, consisting of boiled eggs, cheese, ham, horseradish, scallions, pepper salad with garlic, rye bread, and cinnamon cakes. A similar meal is commonly eaten in Slovenia, but with
Slovenian potica instead of cake.
