The
Oslo I Accord
was an attempt to set up a framework that would lead to the resolution of the ongoing
Israeli–Palestinian conflict
. It was the first face-to-face agreement between the
government of Israel
and the
Palestine Liberation Organization
(PLO). It was ratified at a signing ceremony in
Washington, D.C.
, on 13 September 1993, attended by Israeli prime minister
Yitzhak Rabin
, US president
Bill Clinton
and PLO leader
Yasser Arafat
. This photograph shows Arafat, Israeli foreign minister
Shimon Peres
, and Rabin receiving the 1994
Nobel Peace Prize
in
Oslo
for their participation in the accord.
