When used by itself:
- From a domain name: This is a redirect from a domain name to an article about an associated entity or website, which is more often referred to by its official name than by its domain name.
- Use this redirect link (without piping) when the link in the context specifically concerns the website. Other pages using this link should be updated to replace the text with the redirect target (again, without piping).
- Use the
|domain=parameter to specify the top-level domain name, for categorisation.

Usage

|domain=parameter (or simply the first unnamed parameter) should be used to specify the domain name, such as.comor.org. - This redirect category (rcat) template populates Category:Redirects from domain names, or the appropriate subcategory as specified by the
|domain=parameter. - It also populates Category:Unprintworthy redirects by default. In 2003, efforts were begun to support the Wikimedia Foundation's goal of increasing access and availability of Wikipedia articles in printed versions. Mainspace redirects from website domain names are not suitable for a printed version. In other words they are unprintworthy.
